Reset Update Components

  • Now minimize the Services window.

( Windows automatically create a new folder named Software distribution to store update files ) or open the software distribution folder and delete all the files from this Folder. Do the same with the Caroot2 folder.

After That Again Open Windows Services and Start Services Which you stopped before. Simply Right-click on Windows Update service and select Start again Right click on Background Intelligent Transfer Service select start.

Reset Update components using command prompt

You can Do the Same process using the Windows command prompt. First, open the Admin Command prompt and type commands below one by one, and hit the enter key to execute the command.

Type Net Stop wuauserv and Type net stop bits to Stop Windows update and Background intelligent transfer service. Now to rename Software Distribution Folder and Caroot2 folder Type

Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

This will rename both folders, again restart the services using command net start wuauserv and net start bits.

That’s All Now Close the Command prompt and Restart windows. Then Again Try to upgrade Windows 10 Version 22H2. I hope This time window install upgrade successfully without any error or stuck.

Run DISM command to fix frozen Windows Update
