Solved : Wi-Fi Connected But No Internet Access windows 10 !!!

Did you notice Ethernet or WiFi Connected But No Internet Access on Windows 10 PC? A number of windows users report after a recent windows 10 upgrade ” WiFi is connected but can’t access the internet“. Using Windows 10 Laptop and its connected Via Home WiFi network. i can’t access the internet, but in my connection, it says I have internet access but when I browse a website it’s just loading and nothing happen also when i open an application that requires internet like steam it’s also stack in loading, also my other device can access the internet I also tried to connect my laptop via LAN it works perfectly.

There are various reasons which may cause this issue starting from your local device to your ISP service provider. Or may software updates or new installations might change the registry value. Sometimes your PC can’t obtain IP or DNS address automatically while it can also be a driver issue and more. Here apply the solutions below to fix WiFi connected but no internet connection access issue permanently on Windows 10.

Start with basic restart the Router, modem ( If any ) and PC. This is the first troubleshooting step you should try. If any temporary glitch causes the issue, restarting the device fix the issue. And also check if the connection line to your ISP is working. All the status lights on your modem should be on (Power, DSL, Data, LAN).

Run Network Adapter Troubleshooter

Windows have a built-in network troubleshooter that can Automatically check and help to resolve the problem or at least answer most of the network problems that may cause not internet access.

To Run the Network Adapter troubleshooter, Right-click on the network icon in the taskbar and select “Troubleshoot problems.” Or Press Windows + I to Open settings, Click on Update & Security, Troubleshooting – > select network adapter and run the troubleshooter. Windows will automatically look for problems and fix them. If it cannot fix it, then it will at least let you know what the problem is.

Network Reset (only for windows 10)

On Windows 10, There is a network reset feature which reset the network configuration to its default settings. This may also be very helpful if any incorrect configuration causes the issue. To do this click on the Start button > Type Network Reset. A new window will open warning you about what will happen when your network. Click the “Reset now” button to reset the network and restart your PC.

Automatically detect proxy settings

This is another helpful solution to fix most internet connection problems. Simply click on the start menu search type “or “internet options” and hit the enter key. Here on internet properties go to the Connections tab and then click on LAN settings. Make sure that “Automatically detect settings” is checked and “Use a proxy server for LAN” is unchecked.

Obtain IP and DNS server address automatically

If you have manually configured IP address on your PC simply change it and set it to Obtain IP and DNS address automatically from DHCP server. To do this Press Windows + R, type ncpa.cpl and hit the enter key. This will open the network connection window here right-click on the active network adapter (Ethernet/WiFi) and select properties. Then double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Now under the general tab select the radio button Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. click apply and ok to make save changes and check the internet started working.

If you notice there is already selected to Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. And you are getting no internet access, That cause simply selects the radio button use the following DNS server addresses and set value as below.

  • preferred DNS server 8.8.8.8
  • Alternate DNS server 8.8.4.4

Checkmark on Validate settings upon Exit, click apply and ok to make save changes. Then restart windows and check the Internet back to working state.

Reset Network configuration

Sometimes wrong network configuration or DNS cache conflict can lead to not being able to access websites. It will show LAN/WiFi connected but there is no internet access. That cause Flush DNS cache, Reset TCP/IP stack is very helpful to deal with issue like this.

Simply open the command prompt as administrator, And perform the command below one by one.

netsh winsock reset

netsh int ip reset

If that doesn’t work, try releasing your computer’s IP address and obtaining a fresh one with these two commands one at a time:

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

Finally, refresh your computer’s DNS settings with this command:

ipconfig /flushdns

Now type exit to close the command prompt, And restart windows to take effect the changes. On next start, open the internet browser check PC gets connected to the internet.

Fix Network Driver Issues

The outdated network adapters driver may also cause some problems including no internet on connected WiFi. So it’s essential to update/reinstall your Network adapters driver to make sure the network adapter not causing the problem.

First, download the latest network adapter driver from the manufacturer’s website on another internet connected device and move it to your PC. Once you have the latest driver, Press Window+R keys type “devmgmt.msc” click ok to open “Device Manager.” Here expand “Network adapters”, right-click on your network driver and select uninstall the device. Then Checkmark on delete the driver software for this device and click uninstall to completely remove the driver package.

Now Restart windows and install the latest driver you have downloaded before from the manufacturer’s website. After that open web browser and check the Internet should be working now.

Ultimately, it is the job of your internet service provider to ensure you are connected to the internet all the time, especially if they have provided the router and modem as well. If none of the above tips work, then call your ISP and tell them the problem. They should be able to provide on-call instructions to fix the problem, both the operating system and router problems.
