Make Sure Volume Shadow Copy Service is Running
If windows Get an error on volume shadow copy service or if this service not started then you may face this system restore failed error. so that you must check this service is running. if this service is not started you can manually start by following below steps.
First Press win + R and put services.msc in Run dialog box. Click OK to open Services. Now in the Services window scroll down and look for Volume Shadow Copy service. Now check this service is started or not, if it’s started then simply Right click on it and select Restart , this will restart the service. If this service stopped then you have to manually start it.to do this Right-click on the Volume Shadow Copy service select properties.
Here Change the Startup type To Automatic (Delay Start) and click on Start below to service Status to run the service. Click apply and ok to save changes. Disable Startup Services and Programs
Some Times Due to Some Services or programs system Restore didn’t complete the restore process and get different errors for that try to disable the unnecessary services and startup applications and Try System Restore.
First Press Win + R and type msconfig in Run dialog box. Click OK to open System Configuration Utility. Now On the General tab, click Selective Startup and then click to clear the Load startup items check box.
Move to the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box and then click Disable all
Note: Following this step lets Microsoft services continue to run. These services include Networking, Plug and Play, Event Logging, Error Reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you may permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use the System Restore utility together with existing restore points.

Disable / Uninstall antivirus software
In most cases, the System Restore did not complete successfully error 0x80070005 or 0x8000ffff appears because an antivirus program is already running on the computer and System Restore is trying to use a file that’s also being used by the antivirus. If you’re running antivirus software, disable or temporally uninstall it.
You can do this by right clicking the icon for the AV software and choosing to disable it. Or open program and Features here you will find your installed Antivirus software. Simply right-click on it and select Restart. After complete, the process Restart the windows and perform System Restore.
Run SFC Utility to Repair Corrupt System Files

Press shortcut key Win + X , and click on Command Prompt (Admin).In the command prompt window, type chkdsk c: /f /r command and press Enter key.Tip: CHKDSK is short of Check Disk, C: is the drive letter you want to check, /F means fix disk errors and /R stands for recover information from bad sectors.
When it prompt “Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)”. Answer Yes to that question by pressing the Y key on your keyboard and press Enter. Restart your computer.

Run System Restore from Safe Mode
