Fix DHCP is not enabled for wireless network connection

DHCP Stand of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, Help to Assign IP address Automatically to Client computers. Means DHCP enables devices such as routers or servers to assign IP addresses to computer systems connecting to the network. In other words DHCP is a protocol used to provide quick, automatic, and central management for the distribution of IP addresses within a network. DHCP is also used to configure the proper subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server information on the device. In most home and small businesses, the router acts as the DHCP server. A device (the client) requests an IP address from a router (the host), after which the host assigns an available IP address to allow the client to communicate on the network.

First Check Bellow points :

Check your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has encountered a problem.

Another simple reason is that your subscription period to the ISP might have expired.

Enable/Disable Network Adapter: Open Network Connections then right click on active network adapter and select Disable. Then restart windows and again from network connections re-enable the network adapter which you previously disabled.

Set DHCP To obtain IP Address Automatically

There are couple of things that you can do to resolve the issue. First, you may want to check the network adapter settings manually to make sure it is set up properly to accept automatic configurations( Obtain IP Address Automatically ). If that is not the case, then this may be the reason why Internet and network may not work flawlessly. To check the network adapter settings.

Press Win + R key Then Type ncpa.cpl And hit the enter key. Here on network connections windows select and right click on active network adapter then select properties. Now double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and Select the option “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically” And click ok to apply save changes. Now Windows 10 will retrieve the IP address from the DHCP server

Extra Tip : Always make sure your broadband router actually supports DHCP. Most modern routers do, but don’t take it for granted. Some routers also have a control panel where you first may have to enable DHCP. Common routers like Linksys, Asus or Dell use the IP address 192.168.1.1 for its configuration panel. If that doesn’t work try changing the C Class IP (the third number from 1 to 0 or 2 and hit enter)

Run Windows Network Diagnostic Tool

If  After set Obtain IP address Automatically Still getting same problem then run the windows network diagnostic Tool, Which help to find and fix network and internet connection Errors. We recommend to run the tool and let windows to fix the problem itself first.

To Run This Tool press Win + R then Type ncpa.cpl and hit enter key. Then right click on the Active network connection and select Diagnose to open the network diagnostic Tool.

 

The Windows Network Diagnostic Tool will come up and start troubleshooting the network Now Fallow on screen instructions to complete the Diagnostic process. This will check for network connection problems if found anything this will show as bellow image.

 

You can click view detailed information to get detailed information about this issue. Then click Try These repairs as an administrator and let windows to attempt a fix. Follow on screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting After that restart windows and check inter and network connection issue solved. There is no more DHCP is not enabled error.

Reset Winsock

Winsock is a programming interface and the supporting program that handles input/output requests for Internet applications in a Windows operating system. And ‘netsh winsock reset’ is a useful command that you can use in Microsoft Windows to reset winsock catalog back to the default setting or clean state. You can try this if you are having Internet access or networking problems but still failing to resolve the problem after trying all other suggestions. To reset Winsock:

  1. Press Windows Key Key + R to open Run
  2. Type netsh winsock reset and hit enter (note: if it doesn’t run, then open cmd as administrator, and then run the command).
  3. A black Command Prompt box will flash and close after successfully resetting Winsock. Now Restart windows and check problem solved.

Update Network Adapter Driver

As discussed Before Network Adapter Driver is the common reason behind any network connection failure. By uninstalling and reinstalling the Network adapter driver , you will clear any bad, corrupt or incompatible drivers. This will also reset the DNS and IP address for your computer.

First Uninstall Old Network Adapter driver

Press Win + R then type devmgmt.msc and hit enter key. This will open windows device manager where you can find list of all installed drivers. Now expend the network adapters then right click on your active network adapter driver and select uninstall.

Now Confirm that you want to uninstall the drivers, Then after restart windows. Next time when windows start it will find and install the network adapter driver for you.  Or you can manually update driver by Right click on Device manager -> computer name – right click and select scan for hardware changes.

Also you can visit device manufacturer website, download the latest available driver for your network adapter, then install on the problematic computer and restart winnows check DHCP problem solved and network and internet connected.

Reset IP address

Also Release and renew the IP address ( IP Reset ) will help to fix windows network connection issues include DHCP not enabled / Not working. To Release and Renew IP address fallow bellow.

First open command prompt as administrator then perform fallowing commands one by one.

  • Ipconfig / release
  • Ipconfig /flushdns
  • Ipconfig /renew

This will release the current Ip address clear the DNS cache and renew a new IP address from DHCP server, Which help to resolve Network and internet connection problems include DHCP not enabled issue.

 

Reset your proxy settings

Also some times due to virus / malware infection proxy setting might be changed. You can check reset proxy setting by fallowing bellow steps.

Press Win + R then type inetcpl.cpl and hit enter key, This will open internet properties. Next move to connections tab then click on LAN settings button. In the New popup window, uncheck the ‘Use a proxy server for your LAN’ checkbox. And make sure Automatically detect settings is selected.
